Nespresso Essenza Mini Review

I only recommend products I would use myself and all opinions expressed here are my own. This post may contain affiliate links, and I may earn a small commission at no additional cost to you.

One of my favorite things to do pre COVID-19 was to wake up early, walk to a local coffee shop, and order one of their specialty lattes. My favorite ended up being a lavender latte, and I highly recommend it if you like vanilla! It’s not too sweet, but it’s a little something special if you’re trying to switch it up.

Anyway, I needed an alternative because I wasn’t about to wait in the line of 20 cars at the Starbucks drive thru, nor could I wait months on end until shops started to open up again. Enter: the Nespresso Essenza Mini.

The great thing about this machine is that you have delicious espresso at the touch of a button–it’s foolproof. Last summer, I was very optimistic in thinking that I would use a french press instead of my Keurig. Long story short, I was wrong. I’m not a morning person, and because of that, I need a quick fix to get my morning caffeine. This machine also offers 2 programmable cup sizes (Espresso & Lungo).

So what do I love about this machine? Well, it’s TINY. Look at the side by side below. With the amount of kitchen appliances I have, they can’t take up too much space, so this is a huge plus in my book.

Next, the espresso is delicious. Nespresso has two different types of pods: the original line and the vertuo line. This particular machine uses the original line. In all honesty, I don’t think there’s much difference besides the pod shape, but the original line is a little cheaper per pod! They have a ton of flavors you can pick from; my favorites are the chiaro and vanilla. If you purchase from Amazon, it comes with a sample of flavors, which is perfect to help you decide which you want to purchase.

Finally, it’s AFFORDABLE. There are a lot of espresso machines on the market, and while I’m sure everyone would love to have the crazy machine with the built in milk frother, I’m here to tell you that you don’t need it. This tastes just as good and requires a fraction of the work. And if you want frothed milk, this frother from Miroco has you covered.

One thing you’ll likely come across are the two different makers of this model: Breville and De’Longhi. There is no difference when it comes to performance or features that I can find. The only difference is the look, so it comes down to a preference.

As far as cons go, the water reservoir is small at only 20.3 oz. The cup clearance is also only 5 inches, so it will fit most mugs, but not all. Neither of these things bother me personally, but if they are deal breakers for you, I’d suggest looking at a larger machine.

That’s my take on the Nespresso Essenza Mini! What questions do you have? Let me know in the comments.
